Supervisory Education Program Specialist

Duties include but are not limited to:
Tracking and analyzing education trends by responding to VISN 19 action items reports, VA Employee Education System (EES) reports, data calls, OAA reports and reports results to the Associate Medical Center Director. Determining and enforcing Veteran Health Administration (VHA), OAA, Joint Commission and facility education requirements, objectives, and develops short and long range goals for achieving them. Assessing education needs of the Medical Center by evaluating the quality and effectiveness of training programs; Identifies areas that need improvement and makes recommendations for accomplishing improvements. Supervising redesign of programs and courses to better meet the needs of adult learners. Responsibility for integrating and coordinating the overall education activities to incorporate VHSA long-term strategic goals. Responsibility for all clinical and administrative training programs, staff development, assisting Human Resources with New Employee Orientation, and has an integral role in the facility workforce planning and succession planning. Attending national, VISN and local meetings and/or conference calls to gain full understanding of committee work and training needs and is often required to chair and/or organize same meetings and conferences. OR Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position to be filled, of which at least 9 semester hours must have been in education courses, plus appropriate experience or additional education. OR Four years of experience that demonstrated a thorough understanding of the principles and practices underlying the work of this series. This experience must have been of such character and diversity to demonstrate that the applicant possesses an understanding of the field comparable to that normally acquired through successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university. OR At least 1 full academic year of professional teaching experience. This experience is defined as full and primary responsibility, under general supervision, for instruction of assigned students in an accredited school or institution. This includes responsibility for preparing and presenting lessons and for evaluating students' progress, including a determination of the students' success or failure according to established criteria. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Multitude of professional and administrative matters involved, consistent use of sound management and judgement; Experience with health system administrative skills and management experience at a highly responsive level in a comparable health care environment; Interpretation of VA regulations and policies in contribution to accomplishing the Service and Medical Center mission; Professional knowledge of the theories, principals and applications of educational and program evaluations; Knowledge and use of various communication styles and the ability to communicate ideas, clearly both orally and in writing, to effectively present finding and advisory opinions, resolve problems and concerns and make clear and concise recommendations to senior officials; Experience with analytical, financial, statistical, and quantitive analysis and problem solving; Ability to delegate work effectively by giving clear instructions and training others; Professional knowledge of instructional techniques to deliver polished presentations using various audiovisual devices, and techniques using multiple modalities. Physical Requirements:
Physical demands are minimal, requiring only moderate amounts of walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items. Normally work is conducted in an office setting, however at times requires the incumbent to travel or meet with others in a clinical setting. The work is performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office, although visits to various community activities or affiliated medical/educational institutions may be required. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
