Performance Improvement Specialist-Registered Nurse
The RN functions in a variety of roles which impact patient care, organizational processes, or systems to improve overall outcomes, i.e. Joint Commission standards, RCA, HFMEA, and performance improvement teams. Is recognized and consulted by interdisciplinary teams to share their unique knowledge and clinical expertise regarding Quality Management issues, CAP-IG, ethics, VHA, VISN and local performance standards or compliance with national or local policy. Further duties of the position are, but not limited to:
Demonstrate understanding and application of existing regulations and policies regarding infection control, risk management, credentialing and privileging, and patient safety. Serves as a consultant for internal and external regulations, standards and requirements. Serve as a consultant and facility point of contact for the accreditation process or other performance improvement processes. Facilitate teams, serve as a team leader, or act as a liaison between the team and the service chiefs or process owners. Knowledgeable and involved with implementation of VHA Directives and the facility's policies to ensure compliance, and promote ethical operations. Provides back-up coverage for the other programs in the Quality, Safety and Value Service. Work Schedule:

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. The population of male and female veterans served ranges from the adult, age 18, to the elderly adult, age 65 and over. EOVAHCS is an interdisciplinary teaching facility, serving medical and surgical inpatients and outpatients. There is a large outpatient psychiatric population, with visits to the Emergency Department and admissions for medical co-morbidities. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
